Frequently Asked Questions

What is Blue Meridian Partners?

Blue Meridian Partners brings philanthropists together to find, fund, and scale solutions that propel economic and social mobility for America’s young people and families, ultimately transforming life trajectories.

When was Blue Meridian Established?

Blue Meridian was founded in 2016 and was incubated by the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation (EMCF) until 2018 when it became an independent philanthropic platform.

How is Blue Meridian different from a private foundation?

Blue Meridian is a 501c3 organization, but our operations differ from a traditional foundation in important ways, such as we do not have an endowment. Instead, we fundraise continually from philanthropists who are willing to pool their resources to make significant, long-term investments in promising solutions to propel economic and social mobility in America.

What do you fund?

Our investments vary in purpose. Some help support milestones like healthy childhood development, school readiness, and career track employment; others help people avoid impediments like unplanned pregnancy or early exposure to violence. Also, we invest in organizations that influence public systems and build infrastructure that will help sustain social and economic mobility over time.

How do you decide what to fund?

Blue Meridian conducts extensive research to identify promising strategies and maintain an active pipeline for investment. Our rigorous selection process applies six criteria –compelling vision, strong leadership, track record of performance, evidence of effectiveness, pathway to scale, and sustainable economic model– as part of our performance-based investment approach.

Where is Blue Meridian Located?

Blue Meridian’s address is 685 Third Avenue 19th Floor New York, NY 10017.
