“To get the campaign running efficiently and quickly, the donors partnered with Family Independence Initiative, a nonprofit that has been helping low-income Americans develop prosperous habits for a decade and a half. Back in 2013, FII began collaborating with Silicon Valley engineers to create an easy mechanism for transferring cash to low-income people and communities, in return for their willingness to learn financial management with other participants in small groups of 5-7 families, while keeping household records and sharing economic and behavioral data so FII can track progress and identify promising strategies.”
